Overview
Guitar Center is the world's largest musical instruments retailer: guitars, bass, drums, amps, DJ gear, keyboards, pro audio and more. This was its first mobile website.
Jonathan's first job in the U.S. (2010): designing and developing Guitar Center's first mobile site, with front-end code that worked on BlackBerry, Android and iOS. Built with Guitar Center's project managers, QA and back-end developers.
What Jonathan did
- Converted the designs into valid HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
- 20 core pages including the homepage, store pages and product details
- Custom overlays and an AJAX homepage slider
- Global elements such as buttons, grid and a 3D slider
- Form validation
Challenges
- Looking right across the whole smartphone ecosystem
- Very fast page loads
- Loading sliders via AJAX
